RC Statutory Meetings 2024

Strengthening Humanity Through Global Leadership.

MRC played an active and influential role at the Red Cross and Red Crescent Statutory Meetings in Geneva — spanning the 24th General Assembly, the 2024 Council of Delegates, and the 34th International Conference.

The delegation was led by Her Highness Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, MRC National Chairperson, who was elected Chair of the 34th International Conference — the first woman from ASEAN to hold this position.

24th General Assembly of the IFRC

Leaders from all 191 National Societies gathered for decisions on strategies, policies and plans. MRC participated in workshop sessions on best practices and innovation. Also featured: the 2024 IFRC Youth Forum with 85 youth representatives — including the election of the new IFRC Youth Commission Chair and regional members.

2024 Council of Delegates

United all components of the RCRC Movement to address urgent humanitarian issues and set strategic priorities. MRC expressed strong support for the Movement Migration Strategy — upholding humanitarian principles and migrant dignity. Nine resolutions adopted, including the Migration Strategy 2024–2030 and Restoring Family Links extension to 2030.

34th International Conference

196 State signatories and 191 National Societies convened — held every four years. Coincided with the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. Five resolutions adopted, covering IHL compliance, digital technologies in warfare, disaster risk governance, local leadership, and climate-related humanitarian impacts.
